Lynx Roadster - South Africa

LYNX

Around 1982, a "Merlin TF" was exported to South Africa. This was the birth of the South African Lynx Roadster.
The Kit Car Centre in Boksburg had previously produced Beach Buggies, A.C.Cobra replicas and now began with the production of the Merlin, in a slightly modified form.

Like our Merlin, the Lynx Roadster is based on Ford Cortina Mk3/4 mechanics. However, many different engine types were installed. From Mazda 16V (1991) to Lexus V8 (2014).
In 2003 Kit Car Centre / KCC Pty Boksburg; South Africa went bankrupt and the moulds, tools and rights were bought up by Replica Cars SA. Unfortunately, the new owner died shortly afterwards. His partner took over the body moulds and founded the company "Replica Cars", which still builds kit cars today, but no more Lynx are produced.

Around 370 Lynx were built.

The Lynx Roadster Club in South Africa is very active and organises meetings and trips together.

Special thanks to Hannes from the Lynx Roadster Club for the information and especially for the pictures!
